What
Troy and You Can do to Create a Safer City
The
Troy City Council can pass the three-year phase out of pesticides on all
municipal property, proposed by Citizens for a Pesticide Free Troy. The phase out would go as follows.
Year
1 – All
known carcinogens would be banned from being applied on Troy municipal
property.
Year
2 – All
possible or probable carcinogens would be banned from being applied on Troy
municipal property
Year
3 – No
pesticides would be allowed to be applied on Troy municipal property.
Exemptions
in the plan allow for any pesticides necessary to maintain a safe drinking
water supply and to protect public health.
Residents
can show their support by no longer using pesticides in their homes or on their
lawns. Let your city council
representative know that you want to see Troy be a leader and pass the
pesticide phase-out legislation. You
can also join citizens for a Pesticide Free Troy in their effort to make Troy a
safer city.
